Chisholm Halle, third-generation member of the Cleveland department store family, died Monday at 48 after being stricken at his store, Chisholm Halle, Inc.
Mr. Halle succeeded his father Walter M., as Halle Bros. Co. president in 1966 and held the post when the company merged with Marshall Field Co. of Chicago in 1971.
He resigned as company president in 1973 and opened Chrisholm Halle, Inc. a store dealing in luxury items.
He was a past president of the Cleveland Opera Association, a trustee of the Western Reserve Historical Society, and a past trustee of Blue Coats, Inc., and the Greater Cleveland Boy Scouts Council.
