50th Anniversary

Dear Krok Alum,

The dust has finally settled here in Cambridge after the 50th Anniversary weekend, and only fond n1emories remain. For those of you who were able to make it (about 140 in all), you know how special it was, and for those of you who could not attend, you were dearly missed. However, take our word for it — it was fabulous. Highlights from the weekend include the Friday night Harvard Club dinner — the entire evening! — and the Saturday concert, where more Kroks than ever before sang Johnny O’Connor and a large chorus of alums closed the show with Loch Lomond. The reunion concluded with a Sunday Farewell Brunch, where the family-like atmosphere was the perfect end to an amazing weekend. I think the 50th Anniversary made all of us realize how proud we should be to know that we’re part of the Krokodiloes.

However, the 50th doesn’t stop here. We expect much more good to come from this landmark year. Many of you have contacted us with questions about an alumni mailing list, obtaining a video of the concert, and setting up an e-mail network. We agree that the 50th year is the perfect time to get our facts straight in order to keep in touch with our alums. Enclosed with this letter, you will find a sheet to fill out and send back to us as soon as possible (school ends at the end of May and we leave for tour on June 7). The sheet contains an order form for memorabilia, including concert videos of the alumni group and the Kroks of ’96 as well as a list of THINGS for you to fill out so that we can update our records.

Many of you also requested a copy of our Krok database which includes member’s addresses, phone numbers, and years in the group. We were planning to send this with this letter; however, the list is over 10 pages long and would be very expensive to print out for all of our 320 alums. Thus, we ask that if you would like a copy, please indicate so on the enclosed sheet.

We would also like to thank those of you who graciously donated to the weekend’s expenses. Many unforeseen costs caught us by surprise and we are
still trying to recover from the expenditures. Therefore, we ask you all to please include a donation when you send back the information sheet. In addition, for the small number of you who have yet to pay your weekend expenses — you know who you are — please do so as soon as possible.

To end this on a pleasant note, I want to personally thank all of you who made this weekend and anniversary possible. Although I specifically thank all of you who attended the weekend’s events, I would like to thank the Kroks as a whole for creating a group filled with tradition, music, and friendship. The 50th Anniversary was not only a reflective celebration of our history to date, but it was also a progressive step towards a bright and promising future for the next 50 years of Krokodiloes.
