Dear Kroks:
The Fortieth Anniversary Banquet of the Krokodiloes was truly a success. Approximately 130 Kroks and guests <roughly 90 Kroks> attended the dinner at the Faculty Club. David Edgar ’47 served as toast master for the evening and impromptu speeches were made by David Binger ’49, Fred Gwynne ’51 and several other Kroks. The foca1 point of the evening was the harmonizing of groups past and present. The Kroks of ’73-’75 were especially in good stead and groups from nearly every era, including the founders, were able to put together a few numbers. Most made it over to Phillips Brooks House after dinner for continued song and drink which lasted until 1:30am. The next night in Sanders the Kroks and Whiffs treated a full house to a great show and nearly 60 alumni trooped onto stage for Johnny O’Connor. The Kroks who were not able to attend were greatly missed as this gathering of Kroks was the largest to date. Over 1/3 of all Kroks were in attendance. My thanks to all who could make it.
The Kroks of ’86 were extremely helpful in preparing the banquet and are most excited about their upcoming world tour. Though very concerned about the increased threat of terrorism in Europe, the group has decided after meeting with parents to proceed and plans to entertain audiences in Eastern and Western Europe, India, Hong Kong, Singapore, Japan and Hawaii. Several of their concerts are part of the 350th celebration of Harvard. A concert in Vienna is to be part of the celebration for all of Europe and several thousand Harvard alumni and alumnae are expected. The Kroks have raised most of the funds necessary for the trip but are a few thousand dollars short and could use additional assistance from our alumni. Several Kroks have already given but any who have not yet contributed and wish to support the tour should send tax deductible contributions to the group at 12 Holyoke Street, Cambridge, MA 02138. As always, any and all help is appreciated.
One last thing. Most Kroks who ordered albums in advance picked up their copy of Back in the Square at the banquet but a few have not. Please let me know if you are one of these. I’ll get them out as soon as possible. I had an extremely good time at the banquet meeting old Kroks and singing and look iorward with much enthusiasm to the next gathering of Kroks.
Yours in song,
Steven P. Dostart ’86
